The Stone Sail Cottage

This charming Lake Travis home renovation was a deeply personal and uniquely creative project. Our client, a retired water sciences professional, had spent just as much of her life on the water as on land. Her home, nestled in a lush garden setting with panoramic views of Lake Travis, featured warm stone textures, rustic architectural details, and a layout that was rich in character—but needed thoughtful design to truly feel like her own.

She came to us with a beautiful challenge: how to thoughtfully incorporate her late mother’s personal artwork alongside decades of sailing trophies and memorabilia from a lifetime of competitive sailing. Unsure of how to blend these meaningful items into her home without overwhelming the space, she trusted us to help bring it all together.

We embraced the opportunity to get creative—repurposing items in unexpected ways and curating every corner to tell her story. (Hint: a few sailing trophies found their way into candleholders, a silver moss tray and even a bourbon decanter!) By blending her love for nautical details, weathered woods, natural stones, and earthy, organic textures, we created an interior that is both playful and grounded—full of soul, warmth, and personal history.

The result is a lakeside retreat that feels artful, layered, and completely one-of-a-kind. This project is a testament to how meaningful design can be when it’s rooted in the client’s story.
