This 1990s kitchen in the heart of Santa Barbara’s wine country was ready for a fresh start. With a few smart architectural changes—including removing a dividing wall, eliminating the ceiling soffit to raise the height, and relocating a doorway—we were able to dramatically expand the footprint and functionality of the space. The result? A bright, open-concept kitchen that feels nearly twice its original size.
Designed for a young, active family with boys, pets, and constant movement, this kitchen needed to be as hardworking as it is welcoming. Our client came to us with a modest wish list, and we were able to check every box—creating a space that’s not only highly functional but also warm, stylish, and ideal for both everyday living and casual entertaining.
